Geo-Targeted Consent Mode v2 Setup

Global businesses serving both EU and non-EU audiences face a tension: GDPR requires strict consent defaults for EU users, but applying the same restrictions globally reduces data collection unnecessarily for non-EU users. We implement a geo-targeted Consent Mode setup that detects EU traffic (using IP geolocation at the CDN or server level) and applies strict default denial for EU visitors, while non-EU visitors default to granted or see minimal consent friction — maintaining data quality where legally permitted.
