Google Ads WooCommerce tracking uses WooCommerce's native data layer events to pass accurate purchase data — order value, transaction ID, product names, SKUs, and categories — to Google Ads on every completed order, enabling ROAS bidding and product-level attribution reporting. WooCommerce pushes an ecommerce data layer event on the order confirmation page that contains all the transaction data needed for Google Ads conversion tracking, making it one of the more straightforward platforms to implement correctly. However, several common mistakes persist: conversion tags placed in the WordPress theme header (firing on every page), WooCommerce stores with caching plugins that serve the thank-you page to multiple users (requiring robust transaction ID deduplication), and sites where the custom order thank-you page has been moved to a different URL without updating the GTM trigger. Adslytics implements Google Ads WooCommerce tracking using GTM with WooCommerce's native data layer integration. We configure the GTM purchase event trigger to fire on WooCommerce's order_complete event (or the thank-you page URL as a fallback), extract order value, transaction ID, and product data from the data layer, pass these to the Google Ads conversion tag, and implement transaction ID deduplication to handle page caching scenarios. We implement enhanced conversions using the customer billing email from WooCommerce's order data, configure dynamic remarketing with WooCommerce product IDs, and validate the full implementation with a WooCommerce test order.
