Google Ads Duplicate Conversion Fix

Duplicate Google Ads conversions are one of the most damaging tracking errors an account can have — yet they often go unnoticed for months because the conversion count simply looks high rather than obviously wrong. The most common cause is a conversion tag placed in both GTM and hard-coded directly into the page, firing twice for every conversion. Other causes include page reloads firing the tag a second time, SPA route changes triggering the conversion tag on virtual page views, missing transaction ID deduplication, and Consent Mode fallback pings being counted alongside full consent conversion events. In every case, the result is the same: Google Ads sees twice (or more) the actual conversion volume, smart bidding sets bids calibrated to false abundance, and cost-per-conversion calculations are meaningless. Adslytics diagnoses and fixes duplicate Google Ads conversions using a systematic process: comparing Google Ads conversion counts against external records, using GTM Preview mode to count how many times the conversion tag fires per session, inspecting the Network tab for duplicate conversion requests, checking for both GTM and hard-coded tag instances, and reviewing Consent Mode configuration for double-counting between consent and non-consent pathways. Once the duplication source is identified, we implement the specific fix — removing the hard-coded tag, adding transaction ID deduplication, fixing the GTM trigger scope, or correcting the Consent Mode configuration — and verify the fix reduces firing to exactly once per conversion.
